Superhero Female Graphic Designers

For some reason, men have dominated the graphic design world for centuries.

The world of graphic design is still associated with being a male-dominated and I’m still not quite sure why. I fear that for years, this has put off amazing women from pursuing their passion and making their mark on the graphic design world but times are changing and we’ve recently seen women absolutely smashing graphic design.

I’m obsessed with other designers, seeing their influence and really bossing it in the world of graphic design so I thought I’d pull together some of my favourite inspirational female graphic designers for the Girl Thing Design community so we can all appreciate them together.

Kelli Anderson

Kelli is a master is a digital typography and a queen when it comes to inspiring me to step outside of the box and really challenge myself and the project.

Custom fonts are something I really struggle with but Kelli makes it look seamless and this is something I really admire.

Leta Sobierajski

New Yorker Leta is an independent designer and art director who has enjoyed an incredible career in the design world.

She has worked with some of the biggest names in the world including Google, Tate Modern, Target and Refinery29 to name a few.

She is bright, bold, colourful and fun in her designs and a perfect example of a female graphic designer absolutely smashing it.

Marta Veludo

Marta is the poster girl for pop-art inspired graphic design taking inspiration from modern culture and folk art.

With strong colours and movement often frequenting her designs, Marta is a key example of what going against the grain means and is super inspirational to both myself and many of my graphics design friends.

Debbie Millman

Not only does Debbie has killer graphic design skills but she is a great teacher and mentor who hosts the highly popular podcast, Design Matters.

She is furthermore the president of design at Sterling Brands where she has lead the redesign of over 200 brands including Pepsi and Nestle making her easily one of the most recognised and influential graphic designers out there.
